A Man to Dye For – light paranormal mystery — work-in-progress
Sweats and sneaker wearing, nail biting Giada Russo isn’t like other women. She doesn’t care for dating or girly nights out. She’d never be one of those bubble-headed women who spend all their time primping and drooling over a man–like her sister, Cat. But what makes her most different is her ability to see dead people. Yes, just like little Haley Joel Osment but not with the same solemn fear.
Ever since a small child, Giada’s been able to communicate with the dead. From her great-grandfather to her deceased older brother. She learned spirits are anchored to a special person, place or object, their traumatic deaths are never remembered and some think jumping out of a shut closet and yelling “Boo!” is funny.
When Giada’s best friend, Randall, is murdered, she promises to track down his killer. Too bad his ghostly return can’t tell her what happened, but he remembers nothing of that last night. She is stoked when she discovers a clue the police overlooked. The clue, however, lands her in hell.
Reality show hell that is.
The only way to stop the killer is to become a primping, drooling, bubble-headed contestant on Undercover Love–television’s latest competitive game in finding romance with mystery novelist, Jake Marquez. Having Randall come along for the “fun” definitely makes her job of blending into the scenery a little tricky. How does one effectively talk to the thin air without the cameras filming your every mouthful?
Pretending to be the kind of woman she loathes most, while vying for the attention of a man she has no interest in takes its toll on her sanity. And what should she do when suddenly Jake’s charms melt even the toughest of hearts?
Hers.
